Current project

Buckinghamshire Local Plan

The county-wide plan that will guide future housing, employment and supporting infrastructure.

About this project

Buckinghamshire Council is preparing a new statutory Local Plan. It will identify where development may take place and help plan the roads, schools, healthcare and other infrastructure needed alongside growth.

The Government housing requirement is approximately 95,000 new homes across Buckinghamshire. Around 1,400 sites were originally submitted through Call for Sites exercises, with approximately 400 taken forward for further engagement and assessment. Inclusion in the assessment does not mean a site will be developed.

Public engagement on the published sites closed on 16 March 2026. Buckinghamshire Council expects to publish a draft Local Plan for consultation before submission to the Planning Inspectorate.
